A Muscle Car Research Exclusive!
PLEASE NOTE: This is a brand new kit and I'm looking for help to confirm that it works properly. Let me know if you can help and you may be able to get your rebuild kit for free.
Muscle Car Research is proud to offer a rebuild kit for the Weatherhead brass combination brake valve marked "SF-5355378" used on Jeep CJ-5s and CJ-7s during the 1970s. Our kit contains the o-ring seals, spring, and weep hole cover needed to rebuild your leaky valve and return it to "like new" operating condition. If your valve is marked like the one pictured below this is the kit for you:
The o-rings are molded from a 70 durometer ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) rubber compound that is fully compatible with automobile brake fluid. The springs are made from type 302 stainless steel and feature squared and ground ends. All parts are made right here in the USA!
I don't have detailed rebuild instructions for this valve, but it's very similar to the Kelsey-Hayes combination brake valve used on other vehicles. The primary differences are in the seal used inside the nut that closes off the proportioning valve, the rubber weep hole cover, and the o-ring (instead of a copper washer) used to seal the fitting at the end of the pressure differential switch.
